Ms. Pollard holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology from the University of Texas, Galveston with certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologist, and an Associate’s degree in Laser Electro Optics Technology from Texas State Technical College, and is certified by the NCLE as a CMLSO (Certified Medical Laser Safety Officer). She has 18 years experience in the Operating Room establishing , building and directing a Minimally Invasive Surgical Program involving all surgical specialties including Cardiovascular, Neurosurgery, ENT, Ob-GYN, Plastics/ Dermatology, Ophthalmology, General Surgery, Urology, Orthopedics & Gastroenterology for laser applications and a variety of Minimally Invasive Surgical Procedures. Ms. Pollard established a successful Medical Laser Consulting Program assisting Health Systems, Operating Rooms, and Physician offices across the nation establish Surgical Laser and Minimally Invasive Surgical Programs as well as providing educational and credentialing programs for health system staff members and physicians. She also works with a select group of mobile laser provider groups as they strive to provide the highest safety standards possible to health systems and hospitals nationwide.
Ms. Pollard is President of Southwest Innovative Solutions, Inc. (an educational and consulting firm for Operating Rooms, Device Manufacturers, & Physician Offices), and is listed in Who’s Who in Medicine & Healthcare. Southwest Innovative Solutions, Inc. specializes in Education associated with Medical/Surgical Laser Systems, Laser Safety, and Federal and evolving State Laser Regulatory compliance issues. SIS works closely with hospitals and other healthcare facilities nationally to assist in the education and the establishment of compliant laser safety programs and documentation protocols based on both Federal and specific state rules and State Medical Board Directives.
Leslie is a member of the Laser Institute of America (currently co-authoring and assisting in the development of Best Practices for Medical Laser Safety Officers), American Society for Lasers and Medicine, and is an invited speaker and content development advisor for the 2011 International Laser Safety Conference.
